Mrs. Ford's Peony Garden began between 1922 and 1923 Henry Ford Estate Fair Lane

rs. Ford's Peony Garden began between 1922 and 1923.Shaped into a design of a butterfly, this garden was located on the lawn opposite Fair Lane's drive, just northeast of its current location. The original garden contained up to 1,200 peony bushes. Today, the garden has been downsized to 1/10th its original size, in order to make it more manageable.

To the side of the Peony Garden is positioned the Weeping Beech Anniversary Tree, planted for Mr. and Mrs. Ford's 5Oth wedding anniversary by their son Edsel and daughter-in-law Eleanor. Remnants of  a large apple orchard are also near the peony garden.
