The Billiard Room, circa 1919

his room originally served as the Billiard Room, one of the rooms designed with Edsel Ford's entertainment in mind. However, Edsel Ford lived here less than a year before he and Eleanor Clay married.

After 1920, the room served as Mrs. Ford's Study, her private office and retreat. In this sunny half-tower  area , Mrs. Ford  inspected    the    household    accounts   and

attended to her correspondence. She was devoted to her church and contributed to and attended several meetings of the Oxford Group (The Oxford Group proclaimed the need for "Moral Rearmament" between World Wars I and II).

Interested in local and national gardening associations, she was a founding member of the Women's National Farm and Garden Club (eight years of service, 1926-1934 as president) and was the first president of the Garden Club of Dearborn. She often held garden parties at the estate, many times in the Formal Rose Garden, which contained more than 10,000 rosebushes.

From the bay windows in this room Clara Ford could see the Rouge River and the Boat House which protected her electric boat, the "Callie B."
