Mina and Thomas A. Edison. English Room - Henry Ford Estate

Mina and Thomas A. Edison.

The Edisons were frequent guests at Fair Lane.
Henry Ford had received words of encouragement  from Thomas Edison in 1896, after describing to him his experiments with the gasoline engine. Mr. Ford idolized Thomas Edison and they became the closest of friends. For many years, Edison joined Mr. Ford, Harvey Firestone, and John Burroughs on annual camping trips as they tented around the country like well-heeled "vagabonds." Mrs. and Mr. Ford also enjoyed winter vacations at a home they purchased  next door to the Edison's winter retreat in Ft. Myers, Florida.
